The Magpie’s Nest

The Magpie’s Nest and it’s subsidiary live concerts under the Folklahoma banner have grown to become London’s foremost live opportunity to experience the burgeoning culture of ‘New Folk, Old Folk & No Folk’ music. From regular nights in underground warehouse conversions and grand pubs to festivals and main-stage concert venues such as the Southbank Centre, The Roundhouse and Kingsplace, what is platformed is an opportunity to hear undiscovered or hard to come by examples of the spectrum of roots music from across the UK and world.
What is also experienced at our events no matter where or how large is an intimate and un-pedestaled environment that allows an accessibility and inclusivity rare in other musical genres.
Why we support this project
This is an opportunity to highlight the amazing progress and fervour that folk music is experiencing today. British Underground have hit upon a movement that has existed under its own steam and passion un assisted for many years and has so much to offer in contributing to the wider musical world through its musicianship, heritage, fluidity and interpretability and intrinsic spirit. This is an opportunity to show the world another way that music can be made and the community that built it.
